"The science is clear: We must take urgent action to sharply curtail our heat-trapping emissions to help limit dangerous, even irreversible, climate impacts, and a decarbonized power sector is a linchpin in that effort. Until now, coal and gas-fired power plants have pumped out carbon pollution without consequence, as the toll on communities continues to grow, with the harm disproportionately borne by Black, Brown, Indigenous and low-income communities. The EPA has an obligation to address these pollution harms and environmental injustices by advancing just, healthy, and safe solutions—for people now, and for generations to come."
