Climate Action Campaign Statement On the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022

CAC Director Margie Alt: “We need both Congress to pass meaningful investments in climate, justice, clean energy and jobs AND President Biden to use every tool in his toolbox to implement strong solutions for pollution”

Washington, D.C. – Today, Margie Alt, Director of the Climate Action Campaign, released the following statement after reports that Senators Schumer and Manchin have reached an agreement on the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022:

“With more than 85 million Americans currently under a heat advisory, we are facing a climate emergency, and we must address it in ways that advance justice and create jobs. I commend Senator Schumer, President Biden, and the entire Senate Democratic Caucus for reaching a deal on legislation that invests in climate and aims to help lower energy costs for Americans,” said Alt. “While I look forward to studying the details closely, this is welcome news that the Senate appears to be moving forward on these investments. We need both Congress to pass meaningful investments in climate, justice, clean energy and jobs AND President Biden to use every tool in his toolbox to implement strong solutions for pollution. There is no time to waste.”
