CAC’s Garr: Trump Admin’s ‘Senseless’ Attack on Clean Energy Will Make Soaring Energy Bills Even Higher
WASHINGTON–The Trump administration has taken multiple steps in recent days to choke off development of renewable energy on public lands and waters, including removing 3.5 million acres of federal waters from eligibility for wind exploration, canceling future offshore wind lease sales, and adding a new "project density" assessment aimed at disqualifying wind and solar projects from federal lands. Rose Garr, Senior Director of Government Affairs at the Climate Action Campaign (CAC), issued the following statement in response:
"Donald Trump promised to cut energy bills in half in his first year, yet at every turn, his administration is deliberately choosing to make energy scarcer, less reliable, and less affordable. Millions of Americans are struggling to pay energy bills that have shot up this year, thanks in large part to Trump’s senseless crusade against clean energy.
"As yet another dangerous heatwave bears down on large parts of the country, and with energy demand higher than ever, it has never been clearer that we need to be cutting the pollution causing the climate crisis, not cutting out clean energy. Instead, Donald Trump is putting his administration to work for the benefit of polluters – not the American people."
