Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced awardees for the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund’s (GGRF) $20 billion green finance programs ($14B for the National Clean Investment Fund and $6B for the Clean Communities Investment Accelerator). These funds will be invested in community-owned solar projects, small business loans for fleet electrification, loans for single-family homes to make improvements like energy-efficient windows, heat pumps, and other weatherization improvements, and loans for existing building decarbonization. The following is a statement from CAC Director, Margie Alt, on this announcement:

“We congratulate the EPA and today’s awardees. These funds from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) will be put to work across the country to fight climate change in our communities, including in our own backyards. This program will provide funding for important projects to combat climate change, reduce pollution, help accelerate our transition to a clean energy economy, and create new jobs. The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund is an example of the impactful, forward-thinking investing that Americans want and that President Biden, EPA Administrator Michael Regan, and the Democrats in Congress have delivered. This is smart investing in people who are close to the problems and can implement appropriate solutions that cut costs, save energy, and propel us toward a clean energy future.”
