CAC on House Passage of Trump Administration’s Draconian Tax Package
In this ‘Big, Busted, Bill’ polluters, not people, come first
WASHINGTON–Today, House Republicans forced through a reconciliation bill that would make devastating cuts to essential health protections and climate and clean energy investments hurting Americans’ safety and prosperity. The reconciliation bill now goes to the upper chamber, where senators will have a chance to save the popular, job-creating, health-protecting policies. Climate Action Campaign Director Margie Alt issued the following statement:
“In their zeal to deliver yet another tax cut to the richest few, House Republicans and the Trump administration are hell-bent on destroying the clean energy investments that are creating thousands of good-paying jobs in every state and district across the country, boosting abundant and affordable energy, and reducing pollution that causes the climate crisis and makes people sick.
"This ‘Big, Busted Bill’ puts polluters – not the American people – first. Oddly, many of the lawmakers who voted for this bill today represent districts that are already seeing these investments bring real benefits to their constituents. This reconciliation bill would stop that progress in its tracks. Americans did not vote to have a healthier, safer, and more prosperous future stripped away, yet that’s exactly what the House Republicans voted to do.”
