"In the coming decades, Phoenix will be unlivable unless we curb fossil fuel emissions. Heatwaves kill too many of our citizens every year, mainly in environmental justice communities that also suffer disproportionately from pollution. Our power plants are leading culprits burning fossil fuels, as we are home to 3 of the top 100 most polluting power plants in the U.S. In 2020 the total emissions from our top 10 power plants were recorded at 30 million metric tons, which is equivalent to 6.5 million cars on the road for a year. We have to end greenhouse gases emanating from power plants. The EPA must require almost all existing and future coal and gas-fired power plants to cut or capture 100% of their CO2 emissions. America needs the strongest EPA regulations possible to curb emissions from these power plants."
