“I support the strongest standard on carbon emissions from power plants, alternatively called the Cut Climate Pollution Plan, from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), because I believe it will reduce air quality impacts from these facilities which negatively impact everyone, especially children, seniors, and the poorest citizens in the country. This standard will require utility companies to upgrade their facilities and reduce harmful emissions from coal and gas-fired power plants here in Michigan and nationally. This will result in better air quality and overall environmental conditions, especially in poor communities most affected by proximity to these facilities. I urge you to support the EPA’s highest standards for air and water quality towards the protection and restoration of a healthier environment in Michigan and the nation; the technology exists today to significantly improve air and water quality. I strongly encourage both regulations and incentives to move the US into a clean environment future.”
