“I support the strongest standard on carbon emissions from power plants, alternatively called the Cut Climate Pollution Plan, from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), because higher temperatures are already creating dangerous weather events, including the Canadian wildfires that blanketed our area with smoke for weeks. Any action we can take today with solutions that are ready to be implemented will have the greatest effect and we must not wait. This standard will create a level playing field, supporting states like Michigan whose utilities have already committed to restricting carbon emissions. I urge you to finalize this standard in order to address our urgent environmental crisis.”
