EPA begins evaluating comments on proposals to cut emissions from Navajo Generating Station.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is sifting through more than 70,000 comments on proposals to control pollution from a coal-fired power plant on the Navajo Nation. The agency plans to issue a final rule this year for the Navajo Generating Station near Page. The EPA has proposed cutting haze-causing nitrogen oxide emissions at the plant by 84 percent. The proposal would give the power plant's owners 10 years to install technology aimed at improving visibility at places like the Grand Canyon."
