Sierra Club teamed up with Interfaith Power and Light to host a roundtable event last week in Richmond, VA on renewable energy and President Obama's Climate Action Plan.
The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy President and CEO Marco Grimaldo opened the discussion by explaining the benefits of renewable energy and the need to reduce carbon pollution. Marco then took the 25 participants outside to view the solar installation on the grounds of the United Methodist Conference building.
The event also included guest speaker Matt Ruscio, a representative of the solar industry. He discussed the logistics of solar power, from assessing if a building is suitable for solar panels to a new pilot program in Virginia that helps non-profits adopt solar energy.
