More than 80 people joined a press conference in Portland, Maine on Monday, August 12th, that featured Mayor Michael Brennan, members of Congress, the Regional EPA Administrator and a diverse set of community voices to advocate for action on climate change.
Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and Congressman Mike Michaud pointed out the failure of congress to act and implored the group to take action. "I encourage everyone here today to call or email or write. Demand that they act on climate change. Do it now," Michaud said.
The event also featured a small business owner who detailed the economic benefits of action, and noted that he had already installed solar panels for some of the speakers on the panel.
"I'm committed today, along with the president, to make sure we act on climate," Mayor Brennan concluded.
